MY HOLIDAY IN CANTABRIA I summer last year, I've been on holiday in Cantabria , particularly in Suances , though in truth we were just there to go to sleep and shower in the hotel all week because we spent all day, or visiting Cantabria, or down to the beach. So, here we go with this holiday that I have divided into two post, in the amount of pictures I had of that trip. In this first post, we'll go Comillas and Soplao Cave.
COMILLAS This town, is located on the west coast Cantabria, and counts among its most prominent attractions, University Pontificia , the Capricho de Gaudí and the Palace Sobrellano .
"El Capricho" Gaudi
This beautiful building that now houses a restaurant inside was designed by Antonio Gaudí and built between 1883 and 1885 under the direction of architect Cascante Colom. His real name is Villa Quijano, and was commissioned by Maximo Diaz de Quijano, brother of Marqués de Comillas , which wanted a summer house near the Palace of Sobrellano. In the basement houses a souvenir shop, and in the back we can find a terrace, and a statue of Gaudí sitting, where all were photographed in the same position at his side. In terms of design, mainly because of the tower and ceramic ornaments which had drawn hundreds of sunflowers.
If we walk uphill, a little later we find the Palacio de Sobrellano , Which we visited, and where we get a surprise, since in the Palace itself was filming scenes of the English film "Barbykiller: You will die by it" . This beautiful palace was the work of Catalan architect Joan Martorell , commissioned by the second Marquis of Comillas. And between the Palace and El Capricho de Gaudí, we can also admire a beautiful chapel-pantheon.

If the above photo, note where it says you can observe that warns of the recording of the film, which, for a few days closed Palace. We were lucky because the day we went, the recordings were already finalized, and only recorded on the top floor and abroad, so that during the visit, we could not see the rooms upstairs.

interior The visit was well guided in every room of the ground floor was explaining to us as well as decoration, history of the Villa de Comillas (the guide told us that was the first town Comillas in Spain that had street lighting electricity), and the life of the Marquis Comillas and his successors. After visiting all the ground floor, let's go upstairs but did not enter the rooms.
Palace Interior
After a visit inside the Palace, we decided to see a bit of filming that was taking place at that time in the back of Palacio, there we sat in a kind of stands and took pictures of the recording of the film, one of whose players has Alejo Sauras and Ángel de Andrés López (coming in the picture dressed black suit).
We stayed a while watching the recording, I remember a scene repeated about six or seven times during the time we were there. The scene looked like brought in a man in a trunk and how it came out later and fell on top of mattresses. It was all we could see. As we had already seen several times the same scene, we decided to return to the center of town, but first photograph from the slopes of the Palace, the Pontificia Universidad . Founded in 1890 and built by Pope Leo the XIII , and that in its beginnings was a Catholic seminary for the training of candidates for the priesthood.
Once we go down the slopes that we will give the Paseo Solatorre Castillo, an Italian restaurant there (Quo Vadis) was where we had eaten before making all these visits, and where I had my eye on a store where I bought several postcards of Comillas, plus quesadas Pas Lugo arrived in perfect condition. And where photographed in one of its many doors, this friendly cow were out, although you can not read, the poster put not play, but said nothing as no photograph, a servant of immortalized the memory.
Comillas
Our visit ended here, we only stayed for a site visit, the Comillas Cemetery, which has the ancient ruins of an old monastery and Exterminating Angel Joseph Llimona , which took me into beautiful postcards. Still, many more beautiful places of this beautiful village left without shooting, but can enjoy this page . Soplao One day the weather was not much we decided to visit the Cuevas Soplao , located in the Sierra Cabuérniga Shield . entry We had not booked, so I did not know if we could visit, but fortunately there were vacancies for the last visit. While it was our turn, took the opportunity to visit the store, which was the truth, a variety of things pertaining to the cave, and then we took a coffee, which came not too bad, because the cave is up in the mountains and the cold became noticed. When our turn came, boarded the train mining that would take us into the cave, while people were going to get two photos I took, it did not stop to take pictures inside.

The beginning of our visit inside the cave
I'd like to share with you all the wonders I saw there on our trip of almost 1500 meters the inside of the cave, which took us almost an hour, but as I said above, taking photographs was prohibited. Everything was very well prepared, the train took us into the cave by a tunnel about 400 meters . Once arrived at our destination we got off the train and our guide took us walking down the mining galleries, inside the cave with only a flashlight, once we put it out there, and began a beautiful light show, and a voice that was going to explain each of the spaces that we were seeing on our tour. As I do not want you to stay without appreciating the interior of the caves, for its stalactites and stalagmites were impressive, nor the history of this magnificent place, I recommend you visit the official website of Soplao
. Once our journey ended, the train took us outside. The trip was wonderful. It was a shame the weather was so bad, despite being in July, saying that since the Soplao, you can see beautiful views of Peña Sagra, Naranjo de Bulnes, Pico Tres Mares, Sierra leather and Cantabrian Sea. Entry to the Cave Train
Cantabria We said goodbye until next post, which will take you to other beautiful places that have nothing to envy these two that we visited today.
